Applying for Biohazard: Basic Tips and Advice Empty Applying for Biohazard: Basic Tips and Advice

Post by Roxxar June 11th 2014, 11:48 pm

This thread was created to give some basic advice, tips, and reminders before posting an application. This isn't guaranteed to get you into the clan, but it'll prevent you (or at least, it SHOULD prevent you) from making careless mistakes that could get you denied.

Before joining Biohazard
You should really ask yourself these questions:

  • Do I know how to fill out the application and post it on the forums?
  • Am I committed to getting to know and talking with members?
  • Am I willing and ready to be a part of this clan?

If you've answered "no" to any of these questions, you might struggle with joining Biohazard at first. Not everyone gets accepted the very first time they apply, nor does an acceptance really guarantee membership.

When making an application
Here are some basic tips to go over when making an application.

  • Make sure you read AND understand the recruitment process and the about page. If you don't, feel free to ask a leader for help.
  • Make a quick summary of who you are, what you like to do, and/or what's interesting about you. The personal statement shouldn't be as formal as an interview resume, nor should be an icebreaker introduction. It should generally describe who you are, and why you're here.
  • Compile a list of all games you actively play, your username(s) in all aforementioned games, and history of clans/groups.
  • We do not allow multiclanning in games we are heavily associated with. We define a clan as a separately identified (through clan tags, skins, etc.), dedicated community of individuals with similar interests. If your activity in BoZ is hindered by your activity in other groups, chances are we will not allow or advocate for it.
  • Skim through the list of Biohazard members. Please try to list members you personally know, as they will likely be the ones advocating for you most rather than random familiar names.
  • Check your timezone and country. Although we have no bias against people in different countries/timezones, it may be useful to know about your local time so that we can understand your general activity range in a day.
  • Check over your application before you submit it. You are not allowed to edit your application after you submit it.
  • Make sure you don't leave questions blank, or remove questions. We will find out. If a question does not apply to you, simply state that the question is not applicable, and skip it.

Tips are not exclusively limited to these, but these are just some common sense skills that many people tend to forget when applying.

Applications that are completed will either be accepted, denied, or frozen.

  • Accepted means that your application has been accepted to the clan.
  • Denied means that your application has been rejected due to reasons listed, but not exclusively, below.
  • Frozen means that you have not answered follow-up questions asked by members that need to be answered. Applications are frozen one week after no response. If there is no response still within that week, your application will be denied.

Why you may be denied
Below are a list of reasons why you may have been denied:

  • You did not wait two weeks since your last application.
  • You were in other clans while applying to Biohazard (multiclanning). This also includes applying to other clans while applying to Biohazard.
  • You left parts on your application blank. Since you are not allowed to change your application after you submit it to the clan, the only way you can "update" your application is when members ask you to elaborate on questions. With this being said, if a question does not apply to you, simply state that the question is not applicable, and skip it.
  • Your application was lackluster and there was little effort taken on your part to improve it when members asked questions.
  • You treated the recruitment process/application format like a joke.
  • You removed certain questions from your application.
  • You copied another application. If you do this multiple times, you will be permanently banned from the recruitment process.
  • You didn't post your own application. In other words, you got another user or member to post your application on your behalf.
  • People believe that you are not "ready" or "meant to be" in the clan yet.

After your application has been reviewed, we'll tell you what to do afterwards. Once again, these tips are not a guarantee to get you into the clan, but they can help guide you through the application process.
